Secretaries Week

In the 1950's, Secretaries Day was instituted as a recruiting tool, attempting to convince women to join the workforce, specifically in this traditionally male-dominated field. Of course, times have changed quite a bit! The career is now made up primarily of women, with only 5% of their membership being male. And although secretaries are still considered one job description under the administrative professional umbrella, they are increasingly known by more contemporary names.

Secretaries Week is still celebrated in some areas, while in most parts of the country (like right here in Los Angeles) it has been given a modern makeover, changed to Administrative Professionals Day. But no matter what you call it, this day is the perfect opportunity to let your employees know how very valuable they are to you.

The research is compelling. When an employee is recognized for their work and commended for their efforts, they respond in many positive ways. They become more productive, are more willing to make suggestions and be proactive, and are more likely to be a team-player. They are less likely to call in sick, take personal days, and quit their job. Given the benefits to affirming your employees and thanking them for all they do, it seems a great investment to make during Administrative Professionals Week.

Choose Your Desktop Design: Compact geometric cubes filled with blooms make a wonderful gift for this occasion.

Not only does their smaller size allow for them to be displayed on a desktop, but the bright colors of spring flowers is known to elevate the mood of the recipient. Choose from roses, tulips, hydrangea, orchids, and more. (browse our entire collection here)  Whether you want floral bouquets, orchid plants, blooming baskets, or green plants, we have everything you need.

Call it Secretaries Week or Administrative Professionals Week, the sentiment is the same. Your employees are awesome and they deserve to be recognized! Contact French Florist for more ideas on how to honor your very best team members.
