The Jewish people remember the trials and victories of their ancestors when they were slaves in ancient Egypt. Passover remembers how the people were able to obtain their freedom through trust in the Lord. Flowers are the perfect way to express this joy, which is why they have become such an important part of traditional Passover celebrations. <p>After a long hard winter, the blooming flowers signal to people that the times of hardships are ending and the world is becoming new once again. It is this perception of renewal that the Jewish people are hoping to capture with their flowers during Passover. Flowers are typically used to decorate the home to help spread the joy of the holiday.</p>
<p>In addition to seeing flowers around the home, they are also common adornments in gift baskets. It is believed that this tradition arose from old matchmaking ways. In the past, the single men in an area would venture out to the streets with a flower in hand, while the single ladies would dress themselves up. The men would approach the ladies and offer their flower. If it was accepted, it meant the woman was willing to court the young man. The young man, now with permission to venture to the young lady's home and speak with her parents, would send ahead of himself a basket of lettuce and flowers.</p>

<p>When the time comes to decorate the home for Passover, spring flowers tend to be the most popular and most traditional. <p>* The first mention of Mardi Gras on what would eventually&nbsp;be U.S. soil, took place in 1699, when the French explorer Bienville landed about 60 miles south of modern-day New Orleans and had a dinner to celebrate the holiday they had left behind in France. One of Bienville's latest settlements would become New Orleans.</p>
<p>* Masquerade balls and lavish dinners marked the earliest celebrations. In 1837, masked students donned costumes and danced through the streets, and in 1857, the first secret society krewe took to the streets with mystical floats, torches, and marching bands.<br />* It was one of the early krewes who determined the official colors of Mardi Gras purple for justice, gold for power, green for faith. King's cake is a popular nosh on Mardi Gras, sporting the colors of the holiday; and the tradition of throwing beads didn't come about until the early 1900's.</p>

Sadly, for Los Angelinos, that means that summer is practically over. <p>Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed the bill, creating the law that designated the first Monday of September as the nation's annual Labor Day observance. Efforts to establish a holiday on which to honor America's workers began in 1885 at the municipal level. Two years later, on February 21, 1887, Oregon became the first state to pass legislation declaring that the first Monday of September would be observed as a statewide holiday.</p>

<p>The concept for a Labor Day holiday wasn't something the government came up with; it was an idea that came from workers and the labor unions who fought for them. The last two decades of the 19<sup>th</sup> century marked the heyday of the Industrial Revolution.</p>

<p>How great is it that this canine caped crusader brought along his human sidekick? Batman won the day, and was the popular winner for good reason. If we were bad guys, we couldn't help but surrender to this adorable guy.</p>
<p>We can't decide what we love more the fact that Shark Dog was so ferociously cute, or the fact that the dog in the background obviously wants in on the pet Halloween costumes action.</p>

At<span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong> <a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.frenchflorist.com/flowers/los-angeles-fall-flowers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">French Florist</a> </strong></span>in Los Angeles, well be getting our fall on with fresh florals for October&nbsp;and celebrating the scary season with some of the most frightening flowers on Earth. Read on, if you dare!</p>

<h2><strong>Don't Scream! Theyre Only Terrifying Flowers</strong></h2>
<h3><strong>Hydnora Africana</strong></h3>

<p>This flower's almost enough to make a person believe in monsters. If it looks familiar, youve probably seen it (or something very similar)&nbsp;featured in film. The hydnora africana is though to have inspired the plant character from Little Shop of Horrors. It also closely resembles the monsters from 'tremors and those featured in Netflix's 'stranger Things series.</p>
<p>Cinema aside, this flower's scary all on its own. It spends most of its life living completely under ground, where it feeds on nutrients from the roots of neighboring plants. When it's ready to reproduce, the monster-mouth flower blooms above ground and emits a feces-like stench to attract pollinators. Dung beetles and flies find the smell most attractive. When they land on its red flesh, the jaw-like flower snap shut, holding the insects captive until theyre sufficiently covered in pollen.</p>
<h3><strong>Stinking Corpse Lily</strong></h3>

<p>This alien-looking bloom is native to the island of Sumatra. It's another parasitic flower that feeds off nutrients captured from its host vines. A truly strange flower, the stinking corpse lily grows no stems, leaves, or roots, resembling&nbsp;more of a fungus than a regular plant.</p>
<p>This monstrous flower's the largest single blooming flower on Earth. It's petals can stretch up to nearly three-and-a-half feet across. When it blooms, it also emits a strong, unpleasant odor. The smell of rotting flesh attracts beetles and flies that can then pollinate other blooming monsters.</p>
<h3><strong>Titan Arum</strong></h3>

<p>Another Sumatran native, the titan arum gets its name from the Greek word for giant because it's also another monstrously massive plant. When in bloom, this plant's flower clusters grow tall, helping the titan arum reach heights of up to 20 feet. It can also grow to up to 16 feet wide.</p>
<p>If the size isn't enough to put you off, then the smell certainly will be. Like the stinking corpse lily, titan arum also packs a strong olfactory punch. Its stench has been compared to a bouquet of Limburger cheese, feces, sweaty socks, rotting fish, and Chloraseptic with a touch of something sweet mixed in.</p>
<h2><strong>Put These in Your Halloween Floral Arrangements Instead</strong></h2>
<p>Your <a href="https://www.frenchflorist.com/occasions/halloween/">Halloween</a> flowers don't have to pack a putrefying punch to scare your guests.
